Pokémon VGC in Singapore
VGC is Pokémon's official competitive Double Battle format, played on Pokémon Champions under Regulation M-C. The Trainer Shed runs regular Pokémon VGC tournaments in Singapore.

What is VGC?
VGC (Video Game Championships) is the official competitive format for Pokémon video game battles, sanctioned by The Pokémon Company International (TPCi). Each player builds a team of six Pokémon and brings four to each Double Battle.
Our VGC tournaments run on the current official ruleset — the same one used at Regional Championships, International Championships and the Pokémon World Championships — so Singapore players practise on what the global circuit is playing.
The Current VGC Game: Pokémon Champions
Pokémon Champions was released by The Pokémon Company on 8 April 2026 and is now the primary game for VGC, succeeding Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. It plays on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, and a mobile version is also available — though Regional Championships and above remain Switch-only.
Like previous VGC seasons, Champions moves through a series of Regulation Sets that each define the legal Pokémon pool for a few months:
- Regulation M-A — 8 April to 17 June 2026 (the launch ruleset)
- Regulation M-B — 17 June to 9 September 2026 (used at the 2026 World Championships)
- Regulation M-C — 9 September to 2 December 2026 — the current official ruleset
Regulation M-C — What's New
Regulation M-C is a Double Battle format, all Pokémon set to Level 50, with the standard Species Clause and Item Clause. It is the ruleset for in-game Ranked Battles and Play! Pokémon events from 9 September to 2 December 2026, including the opening events of the 2027 Championship Series.
The format's signature mechanic is Mega Evolution. A Pokémon Mega Evolves only if it holds the matching Mega Stone (so it gives up its item slot), only one per team can do it each battle, and it happens on the same turn as your move — so it costs no turn.
M-C adds 24 newly available Pokémon — including Rillaboom, Salamence, Golisopod and Baxcalibur — plus six new Mega Evolutions: Mega Salamence, Mega Golisopod, Mega Baxcalibur, and Champions' first Z Mega Evolutions — Mega Absol Z, Mega Garchomp Z and Mega Lucario Z. Everything legal in M-A and M-B stays legal, and Legendary, Restricted and Paradox Pokémon remain unavailable.
Which Pokémon and Items Are Legal
Pokémon
Each Regulation Set is a fixed list of legal Pokémon, Mega Evolutions and items, and each set builds on the last. The M-C pool is M-A plus M-B plus M-C's 24 Pokémon and six Mega Evolutions.
- In: most fully-evolved Pokémon and regional forms, plus the Mega Evolutions with a Mega Stone in M-C.
- Out: Legendary, Restricted and Paradox Pokémon, and anything not on the list.
- Species Clause: no two Pokémon sharing a National Pokédex number (one Rotom, one Urshifu, any form).
- Pokémon must be caught in Champions, brought in through Pokémon HOME, or from an official distribution. Any move or Ability it can get in-game, including Hidden Abilities, is legal.
Items
Item Clause: no two Pokémon may hold the same item. A Mega Stone uses the held-item slot, so a Mega Evolver drops its Choice item, Focus Sash or berry.
M-C adds twelve items: Leek, Rocky Helmet, Air Balloon, Red Card, Binding Band, Eject Button, Normal Gem, Terrain Extender, and the Electric, Psychic, Misty and Grassy Seeds.
