Pokémon Wind and Waves Announced for 2027
A new mainline Pokémon game is on the horizon. Here's what we know and why Singapore's competitive community should pay attention.
The Pokémon Company has officially announced Pokémon Wind and Waves, a new mainline Pokémon game scheduled for 2027. While details are still sparse, this marks yet another exciting addition to the Pokémon franchise following the upcoming Pokémon Champions release in April 2026.
What We Know So Far
At this early stage, information about Pokémon Wind and Waves is limited. Here's what has been confirmed:
- Release window: 2027
- Platform: Expected for Nintendo Switch 2
- Type: Mainline Pokémon game
More details about the game's setting, new Pokémon, and features are expected to be revealed throughout 2026 and 2027.
Could It Affect Competitive Play?
Every new mainline Pokémon game has the potential to reshape the competitive landscape. Depending on the Pokémon roster, new abilities, moves, and battle mechanics introduced in Wind and Waves, it could influence future VGC seasons.
That said, with Pokémon Champions expected to be the VGC game for the 2026-2027 season, it may be that Wind and Waves becomes the competitive title for the following season. We'll know more once The Pokémon Company International announces the official VGC roadmap.
